My favorite Oscar 2013 Looks

It’s been a week since this year’s Oscar awards and as I looked at all the best dressed lists, they all had pretty much the same top pics for best dressed. Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior Couture and Jessica Chastain in Armani Privé were among the favorites as well as Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan, Naomi Watts in Armani Privé. and Halle Berry in Versace. I am happy to report that my friend Octavia Spencer, once again made the list with a gorgeous ethereal Tadashi Shoji gown.

My top pick of the night, however, was Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture. Not only did the dress fit her to a tee, but her hair and makeup were stunning. Especially, since she was sporting a short haircut.

But my real favorite picks of the night who wore bright primary colors were from Robin Roberts in a dramatic Marc Bouwer gown, Jane Fonda in a gorgeous Versace gown and Reese Witherspoon in a form-fitting gown by Louis Vuitton. These ladies really showed that color can be gorgeous on the Red Carpet! Way to go, ladies!

So, part 1 of the season 2 reunion show of Basket Ball Wives LA aired last week and part 2 will air this Monday. I did Miss Gloria for last year’s reunion and was happy to hook her up again for this year’s reunion. She wore a white leather and chiffon dress so we felt like the make-up should be lots of lashes and eyeliner with a dark dramatic lip and a side swept wavy look for her hair. So, of course, by now you know that I was fortunate enough to do Octavia’s hair and make-up for her fantastic award season last year, culminating in her Oscar win. It was such an exciting time for me as well. So, this year award season has begun and Octavia has lots of events to attend. It’s been a deja’ vu experience as we work our ‘get ready for the carpet routine.’ Here are a few images from the exciting events Octavia has attended in the last 2 weeks in beautiful designs by Tadashi Shoji.…. starting with Jay Leno and The Ellen Show…. and ending with her shoot for Elle Magazine!

So, this year the MTV Video Music Awards had a few celebs sporting newly chopped haircuts. I love, love, love short haircuts and truly miss the lack of its popularity these days, with the hair extension craze in full effect! For some reason, it is believed that short hair is not sexy and long hair is the only way to go. But, I say that sexy is an attitude and the creativity that short hair allows is unparalleled. So, here is a shout-out to the short haired beauties who have proved that short IS Sexy!!

The last few weeks has been really fun….because it has been full of photoshoots for our up coming issue 15 of Regard Magazine. Because I do both hair and make-up, I have a chance to create a lot of cool looks at every shoot. It’s so fun to work with so many cool celebs and we get to work in some amazing locations all over Los Angeles….. which makes me appreciate the city even more.
